About Us
Youth for Christ was launched in 1946 by the evangelist Billy Graham, whose original vision statement was: "Geared to the times, anchored to the Rock".
Billy was an evangelist, but also valued creativity in getting his message across, especially with young people. Now, 60 years on, there are 63 Youth for Christ centres across the UK, as well as many across the world.
Roy Crowne now nationally heads the organisation up, and the national office is based just outside of Birmingham. As a para-church organisation (i.e. it runs parallel with local churches), YFC looks to help resource local churches, schools and other youth initiatives with training, teaching material, and sometimes man power! YFC now works towards the national vision, to: "Take the Good News relevantly to every young person in Britain".
However, in many ways, YFC operates as a franchise. Local centres come under the umbrella of National YFC although each local centre is unique to its surroundings. Thus, seeking to serve the local community it the most appropriate way for that particular town or city.
